Grounding

Binding an answer to verifiable evidence outside the model weights, such as retrieved documents, a database, or a tool result. Grounding describes the availability and use of that external basis; faithfulness measures whether each claim remained supported by it. Citations without support verification can merely make a wrong answer more convincing.
