Knowledge Graph

A structured representation of concrete entities and the relationships among them, commonly expressed as nodes, edges, and properties with provenance. It supports traversing connections, applying rules, and answering questions that depend on explicit relationships between records.

An ontology defines conceptual vocabulary and constraints; a knowledge graph instantiates facts under some model. GraphRAG is one possible architecture for retrieving from that graph. Value depends on coverage, freshness, entity resolution, and relationship quality because formal structure does not correct inaccurate facts.
